Vybz Kartel must have had a better lawyer or more charisma!

When the deejay appeared before the Spanish Town RM this morning (27/01/09) the profanity charges against him where admonished and discharged. Court officials informed Music News that the deejays lawyer vindicated for him while Kartel apologized to the court.

Meanwhile, Mavado who went to court last Tuesday (20/01/09) for similar charges was fined $10,000.00 or ten days in jail for breaches of the town and country act.

All this is stemming from Kartel and Mavado’s use of profanity at the controversial Sting held on Boxing Day, last year.

Both deejays blurted out expletives during their lyrical clash at Sting.

Warrants were subsequently issued for their arrests after police stated that the men were not arrested on spot in light of safety concerns.

About IRIE FM

The station officially went on air on August 1, 1990. Reggae in the morning, Reggae in the evening, Reggae in the night was the cry. Critics said it was impossible to sustain a 24-hour Reggae music station. In fact, so strong was the impact, it proved that this format was something the Jamaican public yearned for. The 'little station that could' got all media houses in Jamaica to stand up and take note.
