Shabba!!! 'Him Deh Yah!!!'

Veteran dancehall deejay Shabba Ranks has arrived for Reggae Sumfest.

Shabba arrived this morning at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.

Shabba who last performed at Reggae Sumfest in 1994, is slated to perform on International night 1, Friday, July 20. Other acts billed for the night are R&B singer Trey Songs and Tarrus Riley. International Night 1 will also feature a Jamaica 50 Tribute featuring John Holt, Yellow Man, U-Roy, Leroy Sibbles, Mighty Diamonds, Leroy Smart, Derrick Harriott, Frankie Paul and Pinchers.

While International Night 2 will feature controversial R&B singer R Kelly, Damian ’Jr. Gong’ Marley, Third World, Christopher Martin and A. J. Brown among others.

Dancehall Night will see the likes of Beenie Man, Bounty Killa, Lady Saw, I-Octane, Cham, Konshens, Pop Caan, Ninja Man, Assassin, Aidonia, Kip Rich, Tommy Lee, Spice, Khago, Tifa, Jahvinci and more.

Reggae Sumfest in its 20th year started on Sunday July 15 with a beach party and will resume with live musical performances that will begin on Thursday July 19 and run until July 21 at Catherine Hall in Montego Bay.

Critics said it was impossible to sustain a 24-hour Reggae music station. In fact, so strong was the impact, it proved that this format was something the Jamaican public yearned for.
