When Buju heads to court on Monday Feb 14 he will then face two additional new charges of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking offence, and using the wires to facilitate a drug trafficking offense. Attempts by Buju’s lawyers to remove the new charges were unsuccessful Wednesday.
He also faces charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine, and aiding and abetting the possession of a firearm during a drug-trafficking offence.
The Grammy nominated artists first trial ended in a mistrial, after the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict in September 2010.
Buju continues to maintain his innocence while his legal team is contending that the United States government entrapped him.
