PETER TOSH TRIBUTE A SUCCESS

The Peter Tosh celebration held in Belmont Westmoreland on Sunday was a success.

The tribute which got started at 6am with Andrea Williams-Green and Mutabaruka was well supported. Tributes were delivered in the form of songs, poems, speeches and thru the drums.

The festive event saw entertaining performances from Bush Man, the ever spiritual Droop Lion, Iba Mahr, Prophecy, Warrior King, Mackie Conscious, Price Tebah and the Sons of Thunder, Andrew Tosh and Ras Takura among others.

Members of the Peter Tosh Estate indicated that this is the beginning of a series of things to come to further reinforce the "stepping razor’s" presence in Jamaica.

The station officially went on air on August 1, 1990. Reggae in the morning, Reggae in the evening, Reggae in the night was the cry. Critics said it was impossible to sustain a 24-hour Reggae music station. In fact, so strong was the impact, it proved that this format was something the Jamaican public yearned for. The 'little station that could' got all media houses in Jamaica to stand up and take note.
