PASSA PASSA SURROUNDS REGGAE MONTH
With only a few days remaining to the end of Reggae Month, many feathers are ruffled especially those on the organizing end.
During the Easy Skanking show, hosted by Elsie Kelly on Thursday, entertainers Tanya Stephens and Barrington Levy criticized the effectiveness of Reggae Month and its contribution to the music industry. (CLIP 1)
Moments later, veteran entertainer and member of JARIA Freddie McGregor, called in to defend Reggae Month stating that it is not a government supported event. Freddie sparked further controversy when claimed that JARIA gave the organizers of Fi Wi Sin Ting $400,000.00JA towards the event. (CLIP 2)
When Music News contacted Fi Wi Sin Ting promoter, Sister P she flatly denounce Freddie McGregor’s claims that she has received money from JARIA. (CLIP 3)
Well, well, some serious investigating needs to be done. And why did the government drop Reggae Month on JARIA? What will happen to Reggae Month next year?
Reggae Month was officially launched in 2008 by the government.
