Mavado has been charged for assault occasioning bodily harm and malicious destruction of property.
The 30 year old dancehall deejay who turned himself over to police Wednesday afternoon, after 2 days of failing to surrender to law enforcers, was released on bail yesterday.
Mavado’s lawyer Christian Taveres-Finson says they are confident the matter will be straightened out in due time.
According to CCN Reports at about 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 2011 Mavado assaulted a man and damaged his Toyota Camry motor vehicle along the Belmont main road in St. James. The complainant allegedly stopped along the main road to allow a line of traffic to pass when he and his son were attacked by Vado and members of his entourage.
The complainant sustained injuries to his back, leg and forehead. Another man, who attempted to bribe the complainant on Wednesday, was also taken into custody by members of the Anti-Corruption Branch and is to be charged with perverting the course of justice.
Mavado is to appear in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate Court on Monday, August 8.
