The Jamaican Government has finally weighed in on the “gully gaza” saga.

Now, Prime Minister Bruce Golding has just picked up on the issue, stating that the lyrical feud is having a negative effect on the nation’s youth.

Music News listeners will recall that the Entertainment Buzz, first brought the matter to the public’s attention, where the issue was first discussed.

During that programme former Superintendent of Police Renato Adams urged entertainers to respect each other and be responsible for their actions. (CLIP)

Mr Golding has described the effects of the lyrical feud as a virus affecting the society, which he says has been weakened.

Prime Minister Bruce Golding was speaking this morning at the launch of the Partners for Peace Electronic Network for the Community Justice Programme at the Jamaica Conference Centre.

While numerous efforts to get a comment from Vybz Kartel and Mavado leaders of the “gaza” and “gully” were futile.

However, speaking on the Entertainment Buzz in August Vybz Kartel explained that the lyrics nowadays are different because society has changed. (CLIP)

Mavado was invited to the discussion in August but turned down the invitation.
