Busy Signal To Face US Court

Busy Signal has approximately one month before he will be extradited to the United States.

The entertainer, who appeared in court today wearing full black, waived his right to an extradition hearing to go to the US to be tried for absconding bail.

Busy’s lawyer KD Knight says the dancehall singjay can only be tried for that offence.  

KD Knight further explains that under the treaty arrangement, the United States cannot try Busy Signal on the drug related charges and if they attempt to do so, it would be a breach of the treaty which would result in serious consequences.

Busy Signal was denied bail when he appeared in the Corporate Area R-M Court this morning after the judge cited that the entertainer is a fugitive from justice and that had to be taken into consideration. Busy is to return to court June 6.

The entertainer, who had been on a tour in Amsterdam was picked up by the Fugitive Apprehension Team, United States marshals and representatives of the British High Commission at the Norman Manley International Airport immediately after he stepped off a flight from the United Kingdom on Monday (21/05/12).

The request for the deejay comes approximately 10 years after it is said that he was allegedly implicated in a narcotics offence committed in Minnesota.
