‘Marley’ Documentary Well Received

Reggae lovers crowded the Emancipation Park last night to watch the screening of “Marley”, a documentary directed by Kevin Macdonald.

"Marley," which was released worldwide today, premiered inBob's homeland to high praise from Jamaicans who marveled at footage showing the late singer's heartfelt interviews, family life and stage presence.

Dr. Sonjah Stanely-Niaah, senior Lecturer in Cultural Studies and author of Dancehall: From Slave Ship to Ghetto says the film evoked feelings of love, joy and pride.

The documentary takes a biographic approach that lasts nearly 2 1/2 hours to tell the Jamaican songwriter's life story through friends and relatives.

Bob Marley is celebrated as a musical visionary and a man of conviction in Jamaica.
