Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Justin Felice says the woman detective corporal, who is stationed in St. James, was released yesterday (February 15), two days after she was detained.
The Woman Corporal was interviewed earlier this week, in the presence of her lawyer.
Police do not have enough evidence to lay charges, but ACP Felice says investigations are on-going.
He adds that the matter was referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for her to rule if the woman detective corporal is to be charged.
However, that ruling has been put on hold, pending further investigations.
On Monday, the Police High Command issued a news release, indicating that the woman detective corporal was arrested on reasonable suspicion of perverting the course of justice, and uttering false instruments.
Neither the cop's name nor details of the suspicion was made public.
The police were only prepared to say the investigation is part of a general probe into cases that have been investigated by another cop Michael Sirjue.
Police have accused Serju of fleeing the island after allegedly fabricating evidence in a murder case.
He is to be charged, when apprehended.
