Man who attacked a woman cop shot dead

An unidentified man was fatally shot by a female officer in Boscobel, St. Mary, last night (July 5).

The incident reportedly took place, around 10:30 p.m.

Reports from the Oracabessa Police are that the female officer was driving a vehicle, with three passengers aboard, in the Boscobel Housing Scheme.

She stopped to let off, one of the passengers.

Police say three men, one of them armed with a handgun, approached the vehicle.

It's alleged that one of the men then pointed a gun at the female officer and demanded her handbag.

The handbag was handed-over to the men.

The female cop then reportedly fired three shots, hitting one of the men.

The other two ran.

A tussle ensued and the wounded gunman managed to relieve the officer of her firearm.

Police say the man attempted to run away, but collapsed shortly afterwards.
