High Command praises Lottery Scam Taskforce
The Police High Command is lauding the successes made by the Lottery Scam Taskforce in its continued fight against the illegal operation.
In a statement this afternoon (July 10) the High Command says since February 2012, investigators from the Lottery Scam Taskforce have been reaping success against major persons of interest.
These persons involved in the illegal lottery scam were held during four major operations in St. James.
Several high end and luxury motor vehicles were seized.
Meanwhile, 102 persons were detained, 19 of them charged for the offences of money laundering, conspiracy to defraud, unlawful possession and breaches of the Dangerous Drug Act.
These cases are presently before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court.
The High Command adds that items seized in these operations have since been stored at the Financial Investigation Division for safe keeping.
Detectives are working assiduously on several other cases to assist in the identification and prosecution of the top 300 players in the trade.
