Four killed during police operation in Windsor Heights

The police are now reporting that the men killed during an operation in Windsor Heights, St. Catherine this morning (July 6) were wanted in relation to several murders.

Dead are: Delano Pinnock of Marverly, Mario Gabbidon of Drewsland, both of Kingston 20; 29-year-old Dwayne Johnson and 17-year-old Tyrone Reid, both of Windsor heights, St. Catherine.

A police constable was reportedly shot and wounded during the incident.

Police also recovered 3 firearms.

However, residents of Windsor Heights are disputing the police’s account of how the incident took place.

And, the mother of the slain teenager claims her son was a upstanding citizen, who recently completed studies at Jamaica College.

Meanwhile, in a statement issued this afternoon, police say three of the 4 persons killed in Windsor Heights, St. Catherine, were being sought in relation to murders and a police shooting.

Police say Delano Pinnock was wanted for the murder of Altimont Grayson on October 20, 2010.

Pinnock, along with Mario Gabbidon, were wanted for the murder of Marvin James, which took place on January 19, 2010.

And, Dwayne Johnson was wanted in connection to 2 murders; that of Anthony Ross, on May 25, 2011, as well as, Michael Cain who was murdered on February 4 of this year.

Police say the men were also wanted for the shooting in which one of two Police Constables, was shot and wounded during a spot check on Spanish Town Road, Kingston on April 14.

Three firearms were also recovered, during the incident.

They are a Walter .380 pistol, one 9mm Browning pistol and one .38 revolver.

And, the Independent Commission of Investigations (Indecom) is appealing to anyone with information on this morning’s quadruple killing in Windsor Heights, to contact its offices.

Indecom says it has initiated a probe into the shooting death of four civilians by the police during an operation in the community.

Indecm says police reports indicate that officers from the Area Four Special Ops team were on an operation in the area when they encountered four men in a car.

Three of the men in the car were fatally shot during a gun battle. The fourth escaped.

Officers also entered a premises nearby where they were reportedly fired upon by the occupants, hitting one of the officers in the chest through his bullet-proof vest.

The men were engaged and one was hit.

The 4 wounded men were taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where they were pronounced dead, while the injured officer received treatment.

Indecom says no known witnesses have been identified.

The scene was processed by its forensics team as well as technical services division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

The policemen who were on the operation have been identified and their hands were swabbed by incident scene examiner.

Notices will be served for the involved officers to provide Indecom with statements, in short order.
