Senior prosecutors from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) are to be sent to the Gun Court to help deal with the backlog of cases.
Director of Public Prosecutions Paula Llwellyn says she will lead the charge, for the Easter Session of the Gun Court.
Ms. Llewellyn told Irie FM News that the most senior prosecutors are usually sent to the higher courts, but the new approach is being taken, to ensure a smooth flow of cases.
She states that the prosecutors will ensure that the cases that go before the courts are ready for prosecution so as not to clog the system.
