Councillor Sylvan Reid charged
Police have laid a charge against People’s National Party ccouncillor for the Salt Spring division, Sylvan Reid.
A statement from the police this afternoon indicated, that Mr Reid has been charged with unlawful possession of property.
The statement did not outline the circumstances leading to the charge.
Councillor Reid, who was taken into custody last Wednesday by members of the lotto scamming task force, will appear in court tomorrow Tuesday, July 24.
Mr. Reid and another PNP member deputy mayor and councillor for the Granville division, Michael Troupe were arrested last Wednesday, as police carried out operations to crack-down on the lottery scam.
Five persons were held by police, who seized five motor vehicles, several thousand dollars in U.S. and Jamaican currency and a firearm.
Mr. Troupe and his son Jevaughn are facing gun charges and are to appear in court on Wednesday.
