Killamanjaro Sound System denies involvement in upcoming Japan tour with Ricky Trooper
Legendary Jamaican sound system Killamanjaro has distanced itself from an upcoming Japan tour being promoted in connection with veteran selector Ricky Trooper.
In a statement, the operators of the renowned sound system said they are not affiliated with or participating in the tour scheduled for July 2026, emphasizing that there is no agreement, booking authorization, or communication between the event promoters and Killamanjaro Sound System’s management.
The statement further alleged that the sound system’s name, logo, and branding are being used without permission or authorization in promotional material for the tour.
“Killamanjaro Sound System has not granted approval for its brand or intellectual property to be associated with these events,” the statement noted.
The clarification comes amid promotional efforts by Ricky Trooper, who has been advertising the upcoming Japan tour across social media platforms.
In a music news interview today, Trooper confirmed that the tour is still on.
After dominating the 90s Dancehall clash arena as Killamanjaro’s premier frontline selector, Ricky Trooper eventually carved out his own legacy with sound trooper.
The Japan tour is slated for July 16 -26.
