Audley Shaw to apologise to Peter Bunting

Opposition Spokesman on Finance Audley Shaw has agreed to apologize to Security Minister Peter Bunting for comments made on the JLP's campaign trail last November.

Mr. Bunting initially asked Mr. Shaw to apologize, but Mr. Shaw refused to do so.

Mr. Bunting then filed a law suit stating that the comments were false and libellous.

In a surprising twist, Mr. Bunting issued a statement this morning saying Mr. Shaw has had a change of heart, and has agreed to issue a public apology.

The suit was settled on Tuesday, July 10 when Mr. Shaw also agreed to pay damages to Mr. Bunting.

The parties have agreed that the amount of the payment would be kept confidential.

Mr. Shaw made the apparently offensive statements, at a JLP area council three meeting in Manchester on November 13, and then in Runaway Bay, St. Ann on November 16 last year.

The statements were also carried in the media.

About IRIE FM

The station officially went on air on August 1, 1990. Reggae in the morning, Reggae in the evening, Reggae in the night was the cry. Critics said it was impossible to sustain a 24-hour Reggae music station. In fact, so strong was the impact, it proved that this format was something the Jamaican public yearned for. The 'little station that could' got all media houses in Jamaica to stand up and take note.
