Alphansus Davis says Thwaites apology unsatisfactory

The man, who was at the heart of the teachers’ services commission controversy some months ago, Alphansus Davis, says the reasons put forward by the education minister for the sacking of the TSC are unsatisfactory.

Mr. Davis says the members of the commission were never asked to resign, neither is there a precedent for the members of the TSC to leave office upon the change of administration.

He said he and other members of the commission made checks and they were told there was no need to resign.

In a statement today, Mr. Thwaites said that the chairman and members of the commission did not offer their resignation upon the change of governments.

Mr. Davis says he has no issue with the minister's decision to end the tenure of the former members; however, he believes the minister went about it the wrong way.

He says this speaks to the minister's leadership.

Mr. Davis says he has not been contacted by the minister on the issue.

The former TSC head says he is not a politician nor a political activist, although he was seen as such based on his appointment.
