Momentum high for Marcus Garvey Celebration

Preparations are in high gear for the Marcus Garvey Celebration.

The event slated to take place on Sunday, August 20, will commemorate the life and works of Garvey, who is one of the world’s most renowned black leaders.

Dubbed “Pan-Africanism or Perish! Reparations Now! the Marcus Garvey Celebration will feature speeches from Dr. Malik Shabazz, Mukasa Dadda, Dr. Julius Garvey and Reverend Canon Eve Pitts.

Plus there will be live performances from Charlie Chaplin, Tabby Diamond of the Mighty Diamonds, Fantan Mojah, Nesbeth, Chezedek, Bongo Herman, Deep Jahi, Yasus Afari, Ras Takura, Cherry Natural, Keke I, Kenny Smith, Bobby Tenna and others.

The Marcus Garvey Celebration, in honour of the 130th anniversary of Jamaica’s 1st national hero, will run from 6am – midnight on Sunday, August 20 in the IRIE FM Courtyard.
