The state run bus company, the Jamaica Urban Transit Company, is undertaking a Rationalization Programme to deal with over staffing.
This was disclosed by JUTC Managing Director Paul Abrahams.
It was revealed at today’s Public Administration and Appropriations Committee Meeting of parliament that the bus company was overstaffed by about 300 persons.
Mr. Abrahams was asked about the staff level required to man its operations.
He says efforts are underway to deal with the over staffing.
He told the committee that the company was forking out some 25 million dollars in additional wages per month for the extra staff.
