Jamaican gangs blamed for wave of murders in Turks and Caicos Islands
A wave of murders and increasing violence in the Turks and Caicos Islands is being blamed on activities being perpetrated by Jamaican gangs.
In an address to the house of representatives yesterday (October 3), Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands, Nigel Dakin said there has been a dramatic shift in the country’s security situation, due to Jamaican gangs and serious trans-national crime.
He said a Jamaican gang – with a small footprint in the country– recently reinforced from Jamaica.
He noted that support has been sought from the Bahamian and Jamaican authorities to tackle the issues.
