Initiative launched to tackle violence in schools
Another initiative to deal with violence in schools, was launched, on Wednesday morning.
The year long programme, dubbed “Just Medz It”, was launched by Education Minister Fayval Williams.
The move comes as the education sector, continues to grapple with violence in schools.
Last month, 17 year old Michion Campbell was stabbed to death, by another female student, at the Kingston Technical High School.
In an address to students from several high schools , Mrs. Williams said the initiative will seek to reduce bullying in schools and teach conflict resolution.
She said the multi-stakeholder approach is designed, to make the school environment a safe space.
She said a 2018 Unicef report, revealed that 65 percent of students are bullied at schools and over 80 percent having experienced some form of psychological or physical violence, administered, as discipline, as such the ministry must put measures in place, to alleviate the problem
