House of Dancehall has provided STING with a lifeline after its CEO Michael Dawson bought the rights to stage the 2016 presentation of the annual Boxing Day event.
Following major glitches and setbacks, Sting organizers have pulled the plug on STING. The over 30 year-old event has been replaced with an invitation-only award ceremony slated for December 26.
However, House of Dancehall’s CEO Michael Dawson says the absence of a landmark event like STING is a big blow to dancehall.
Heavy D of Supreme promotions has endorsed the initiative by House of Dancehall.
House of Dancehall’s tribute to the genre under the STING banner will be held on December 27 at House of Dancehall, at 6 Cargil Avenue, Kingston.
Meanwhile, the organizers of Sting will have an invitation Awards Ceremony on December 26. This year’s staging of STING would have marked the 32nd presentation of the annual Boxing Day event.
Sting has been Jamaica’s core dancehall stage show for over 30 years with some of the biggest names in dancehall including Shabba Ranks, Super Cat, Ninja Man, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Vybz Kartel, and Mavado.
