Four Left Homeless in Portland Fire

Two adults and two children were left homeless following a massive early morning fire in Cornwall Barracks, Portland.

According to reports the fire began about 12:30 am following a power cut when a generator was being used to supply electricity at a wake and party.

According to eyewitness Kemoy Lewis, there was an explosion and the generator along with a car, house, shop and bar were burnt to the ground.

Meantime, speaking with Irie FM news Assistant Superintendent Everol Brown says the fire brigade received a call sometime after one o’clock and a unit from the Port Antonio fire station responded.

He says investigations will continue to determine the cause of the blaze.

Loss is estimated at six million dollars.
