DPP Wants Sex Case Involving Pastor To Be Tried In Kingston

by January 11th, 2017

Director of Public Prosecution Paula Llewellyn says steps are being taken to request the transfer of the case involving a pastor from St Elizabeth to Kingston, in the interest of fairness.

64-year-old Pastor Rupert Clarke of the Nazareth Moravian Church is charged with having sex with a female under the age of consent.

Speaking with Irie FM News Ms Llewellyn says the concern was raised with her by ACP Ealon Powell, following the public dissemination of details of the incident on a local radio station, as well as on social media.

Ms Llewellyn says if the case is moved to Kingston, the likelihood of pulling from a more objective jury pool, is higher.
