The ministry of transport has been criticized for the purchase of the old Jamaica International Telecommunications Limited (Jamintel) building.
The building was purchased from the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) for $150 million in 2014 to be the head office of the transport authority.
Managing Director of the transport authority Cecil Morgan says from the records enough work was not done to determine the suitability of the Jamintel building for the head office of the authority.
One of the issues is the lack of enough parking space which would see the authority having to lease parking facilities.
Member of the Public Administration and Appropriation Committee (PAAC) Leslie Campbell says a spending $50 million to guard an empty building is a waste of resources.
